The #SportForNature project was born from an idea by Stefano Tirelli, an athletic and mental trainer, in collaboration with Sky Sport, and from the belief that top-level athletes have an exceptional power of communication with the younger generations. Its mission is to create an interactive and impactful relationship between sport and nature, in order to generate a positive change for our planet. The organisation aims to reduce the negative impact on the environment by promoting several sustainability actions.
IBSA entered into a partnership with #SportForNature because it shares its objectives and its commitment to environmental issues, as well as the value of sport in conveying messages of responsibility. Using objective and scientific data to show what is happening globally, the project aims to disseminate information and raise awareness through the involvement of international athletes and champions, who rally around the common goal of safeguarding the environment.
With its first edition launched in Milan (Italy), on March 17, 2022, the Sport for Nature Awards is a recognition that celebrates the “sport with a green soul”, enhancing athletes, companies, institutions that distinguished themselves for their sensitivity towards environmental and social sustainability through sport-related initiatives and actions.
The second edition of the Sport for Nature Awards took place in Monaco on June 15, 2023; the event was organised in collaboration with Prestations et Services de Marins of the Principality of Monaco and the Hydrographic Institute of the Italian Navy.
