Sport for Nature Awards 2023: IBSA wins the prize for social commitment

21 June 2023

IBSA and Alberto Bona were protagonists of the second edition of the Sport for Nature Awards, which was held last June 15 in Monaco, under the High Patronage of Prince Albert II, to celebrate “sport with a green soul”.

The 2023 edition of the Sport for Nature Awards – which were created to enhance the commitment of athletes and companies in the field of environmental and social sustainability – saw the participation of several companies, institutions and professional sportsmen. Among the latter, Alberto Bona, skipper of the project Sailing into the Future. Together, was also awarded, as well as French Paralympic skier Yohann Taberlet and former World Champion footballer David Trezeguet.

“I’m honoured, it’s a wonderful recognition”, commented Bona. “When you are at sea, you truly understand what it means to respect nature and the fact that the relationship between man and environment must be one of mutual exchange, and never one-way. With IBSA, we try to emphasise the values of sustainability and protection of others in all our actions and projects, and I think this award is proof that we are on the right track.

Among the companies, IBSA Pharma – the French subsidiary of the IBSA Group – was awarded the prize in the category “Company for social initiatives” for its concrete commitment to inclusive sailing in favour of people with disabilities through the project Sailing into the Future. Together.

In France we chose to partner with the Antibes yachting club to support major inclusive sailing initiatives”,explained Fabrice Jover, CEO of IBSA Pharma, which accepted the award. “In 2022, we donated two boats adjusted for children with disabilities, to involve them in experiences in close contact with the sea, allowing them to sail with accessible boats and participate in integrated regattas. We will renew our support this year too, which will be even greater, with the organisation of the first IBSA Regatta, specially dedicated to children with disabilities between the ages of 12 and 17, to be held on 29 and 30 September”.

This recognition confirms once again the great value of IBSA’s project Sailing into the Future. Together, which had already been awarded in 2022 on the occasion of the first Italian edition of the Sport for Nature Awards, held in Milan.
